St Erth Residents Association - working for the community
In the summer of 2005 a public meeting, convened by our soon-to-be Chair, Andy Jones, was held in the Old School Rooms. This was primarily to discuss the revival of Vicarage Gate Field (cut grass and generally tidy up) and consider replacing equipment that had been removed from the play area. A good turn-out generated a wish list of projects to achieve and issues to be followed up, namely:
Playing Field at Vicarage Gate (make usable)
Local Bus Service (save)
Footpaths (upkeep)
BMX Track (reinstate)
Youth Clubs
Skate area
This led to the formation of St Erth Residents Association (SERA) with the inaugural meeting being held on 11th August 2005. Since then SERA has been committed to helping the residents of St Erth by looking at ways to keep our village as a village while ensuring it does not stand still. We are for progress which will enhance not obliterate what is loved.
Our purpose is to build on what is already there - a wonderful, friendly village with a strong feel of community which shares interests, views and concerns which SERA aims to promote. We offer support with projects and encourage residents to put forward suggestions they feel would benefit with help from SERA. This could be getting a grant for one our community groups, commenting on a Planning Application, helping at events, taking issues up with various authorities and giving advice on contacts.
SERA is properly constituted and operates through a Committee with a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, meeting as needs require but at least quarterly. Our last Chair had been in office from August 2010 until October 2025 and is still a serving member. Read the Constitution here.
Membership is free and open to any resident of St Erth aged 18 and over. However, you don't have to be a member to ask for help or make a suggestion as we aim to represent all residents, although the more members that we have the easier it is for us to know individuals' and groups’ needs.
