Fund Raising for Projects

Some projects require little or no funding in order to go ahead.  However, if a grant is necessary for it to progress then proof of other funding sources to demonstrate commitment to the project, often matching, is asked for.

Some of the fund raising events put on by SERA, which usually include a raffle are:

Farmers Market  -  Providing refreshments although this is not a large money raiser it is a steady one!

Quizzes -  Along with the quiz itself during the break a simple meal (pre-ordered) along with tea, coffee, orange juice etc are available.  The quizzes are great fun, usually good humoured, although some partakers do perhaps get a little bit too competitive, and well attended.

Cheese and Wine evenings  -  Tickets are sold in advance which entitles the holder to a glass of wine on arrival.  A glorious selection of cheeses, french bread and nibbles are available together with a choice of wines (non alcoholic drinks are available).  There is usually a written quiz left on each table for groups to complete if they wish but there is no compulsion!

Race Nights -  Punters receive a race card upon arrival listing the races and information about the horses running. They can then place bets on the horses and receive tote tickets. Race Nights are covered by The Gambling Commission Act, all monies raised must be given to a worthwhile cause e.g. a charity.  Of course, those who are avid followers of racing might have an advantage over others!  Again refreshments are usually available.
