Not all the projects put forward at the inaugural meeting of 11 August 2005 came to fruition however, over the years,
SERA has been involved with many, varied projects and helped other organisations, including the Parish Council, with obtaining grants, raising funds, conducting and analysing surveys and giving physical support.
SERA had representatives at meetings of the Penwith Rural Transport Forum at Penzance Council Offices regarding the disappearing St Erth bus service; and at Hayle Town Council Offices during the planning stages of the West Cornwall Transport Interchange (WCTI) now the Multi-Modal Hub (MMH) at St Erth Station. On a number of occasions SERA has called public meetings to discuss planning applications to obtain the overall view of the residents and speak on their behalf at Cornwall Council Strategic Planning meetings. It has not just been on housing matters that SERA has taken a lead role but also regarding the Refuse and Recycling Centre expansion and hours of operation; SWW Sewage Treatment Works to eliminate "The St Erth Smell"; enforcement issues; alterations to the Grade II listed station and, applied for separately, the replacement of the Grade II listed pedestrian bridge, this was withdrawn and resubmitted on at least three occasions before finally being approved.
There was also an application by British International Helicopters (BIH) to relocate the Isles of Scilly Heliport from Penzance to a site adjacent to Station Approach/Treloweth Lane close to the station. This caused a furore amongst the residents of Ludgvan and St Erth which resulted in the forming of the sub-committee Stop the Heliport Relocation to St Erth Committee (SHREC) which included several members of SERA's Committee. A few days after this application was withdrawn one was submitted for the West Cornwall Transport Interchange (WCTI) previously referred to as the Multi-Modal Hub but renamed after HIB's withdrawal. Another fight ensued.
In addition SERA was heavily involved with the discussions on and production of the St Erth Neighbourhood Plan, 2017-2030, by the St Erth Parish Council with representatives on the Steering Committee and Objective Clusters. The completion of the St Erth Neighbourhood Plan plus a lack of projects in need of help from SERA led to recent years being quieter. However, some background work has continued with help given in obtaining grants and sorting various local issues.
